Purpose of Position:
The position provides support for the development and coordination of various tourism marketing activities and print and online publications for Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism.
GENERAL DUTIES
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and CEO, this position is responsible for all facets of marketing support, including but not limited to: database management, print and online publications, ad layout, internal and external communication, event coordination, Website development, social media marketing, implementation of marketing campaigns.
• Marketing support to Marketing Department
• Organization, preparation and follow-up for marketing campaigns, media, publications, and special projects.
• Marketing liaison with administrative, membership, convention and visitor services departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Database: Input, maintenance, and operational tasks to support the day-to-day execution of the online events and marketing activities.
• Administrative Duties: Prepare correspondence and reports, handle telephone calls, schedule appointments and maintain records for marketing department. Filing, inventory, special projects, calendar, agenda, meetings minutes, budget analysis, graphic design.
• Marketing: Creative brainstorming, campaign implementation, social media marketing
• Publications: Liaison with Director to coordinate the production of various print and online publications, sales collateral, and electronic marketing programs.
• Reporting: Monthly statistical reports.
• Website: Maintain online graphic standards, coordinate multimedia features including online video, coordinate with Director and development team, SEO/SEM.
• Event Planning: Marketing committee meetings, member marketing forums, annual meeting, familiarization tours, press tours and other events as needed.
• Visitors Center: Provide coverage when required for walk-in visitor’s center.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, strongly deadline-driven environment with minimum supervision. He/she is flexible, proactive and very organized. Must possess at least one year experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, graphic layout proficiency, Web marketing savvy, and excellent phone manners. Valid driver’s license and the ability to lift heavy objects (40lbs max) required. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required. Candidate must possess strong communication and computer skills and be fluent in use of the following platforms: Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite on a PC platform. Social media marketing and event planning experience is a preferred, html/php coding experience a plus. Degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design or related fields preferred.

COMPENSATION
DOE. This is a full-time permanent position, forty hours a week year-round. Full medical benefits. Reimbursed expenses authorized for position. Paid training and travel opportunities related to the position.
