Peace Arch Park International Sculpture Exhibit

The international fine arts program features outdoor sculptures in Peace Arch State Park's magnificent gardens with some sculptures placed in downtown Blaine. The exhibit features sculptors from the United States and Canada and is held annually from May to September.

Logging Days: Recent Donations of Darius Kinsey

Through his 50-year career in photography, Darius Kinsey (1869-1945) created images that captured the character of the early Northwest. More than a simple documentary record, the Kinsey aesthetic communicates the monumental interaction between men, machinery, and mammoth trees. Kinsey used large format cameras that preserved detail down to the grain of tree bark, the sheen off a locomotive, and the grime on a logger’s shirt.

Summer History Tours at Pioneer Park

Historic interpreters in pioneer dress offer daily public tours of the 12 authentic log cabins in Ferndale’s Pioneer Park. Built of massive slabs of Western Red Cedar by early settlers in the 1800s in various parts of Whatcom County and moved to this location beginning in 1935, the Pioneer Park cabins represent the world’s largest collection of this distinctive regional style of early architecture, which is unique to the Pacific Northwest.

Ski to Sea Festival

A Mysterious Night at Sea with John Straley

Come aboard to spend time with author John Straley while sailing around Washington's most enchanted islands. John will read from his new novel which is partially set on small vessels headed up the Inside Passage to Alaska. This 2-day adventure is aboard the largest working Tall Ship on the west coast. First launched in 1924, the 127-foot Schooner Zodiac has been fully restored. Meals served by the Zodiac's crew, and you'll sleep on board in the ships' quarters.
