May 02, 2008 - August 16, 2008 Through his 50-year career in photography, Darius Kinsey (1869-1945) created images that captured the character of the early Northwest. More than a simple documentary record, the Kinsey aesthetic communicates the monumental interaction between men, machinery, and mammoth trees. Kinsey used large format cameras that preserved detail down to the grain of tree bark, the sheen off a locomotive, and the grime on a logger’s shirt.
