3/28/2007
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — (Bellingham, Wash.)— Low-cost airline Allegiant Air, today announced new, low-cost, nonstop flights to Reno-Tahoe, Nev. from Bellingham, Wash. with introductory fares as low $59 each way. After the introductory fare period, regular one-way fares on the route will begin at $79. Service starts May 25th.
“We are pleased to extend another low-cost and convenient option,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., Allegiant Air president and CEO, said. “We are confident the entire region will enjoy the low-cost, nonstop jet service to the Reno-Tahoe destination, as they already do to Las Vegas and Palm Springs.”
The airline will launch the new scheduled service from Bellingham International Airport to Reno-Tahoe International Airport with three flights weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Flights will depart Bellingham at 9:00 a.m. arriving in Reno at 10:45 a.m. Flights leaving Reno will depart at 11:25 a.m. arriving in Bellingham at 1:25 p.m. (all flight times are Pacific.)
“Expanding the destinations available directly from Bellingham is clearly what our community wants, and Allegiant has been an important partner in making this happen,” said Port Commissioner Scott Walker. “We hope that our friends in Reno, Las Vegas and Palm Springs come and see what we can offer, too.”
The carrier will utilize full-size, 150-seat, MD-80 series jet aircraft on the route. The airline said its market research and input from local community leaders indicate that the Whatcom County and Vancouver communities will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Reno-Tahoe as an alternative to connecting flights or long drives to other airports. Allegiant began service from Bellingham to Las Vegas August 5, 2005. Allegiant will offer seasonal service to Palm Springs through April 15, 2007.
