Jump, spring and bounce your way to family fitness at the Trampoline Zone

Driving home after a visit to the Trampoline Zone, I asked the three kids in my backseat for their review of this new family Trampoline Zone, Bellinghamactivity center in Bellingham.

“Awesome.”

“Fun.”

“Sweaty.”

I think this is a pretty accurate appraisal. With a half-dozen different activities – from trampolines to an obstacle course – families can jump, bounce, spring, climb and swing their way to an hour or two of healthy activity.

Bellingham Trampoline Zone is located at 4201 Meridian St., Suite 107, between Bellis Fair Mall and Costco, and behind Pro Golf Discount. With its close proximity to shopping, a trip to the Trampoline Zone can be a great carrot to dangle in front of kids: Be good while we shop and then we can go jump. Or, just make the Trampoline Zone your family destination.

All ages are welcome to bounce on the trampolines, play dodge ball and basketball, jump into the giant pit of foam blocks, balance your way along the slack line or try your skills on the obstacle course. It is good, sweaty fun. A special Kids Zone is reserved for your little jumpers.Trampoline Zone, Bellingham

A lofted lounge give non-jumpers a bird’s eye view of all the activity down on the floor. The loft has comfy couches, tables and chairs, magazines and televisions to help pass the time as well. Couches are also spread throughout the jumping floor for grown ups to keep a closer watch on their children.

I had a hard time just keeping up with my kids as they darted from one activity to the next as they wanted to explore one. They could literally bounce off the walls along one row of trampolines. While I wasn't as gung-ho as the kids about taking flying leaps into the foam blocks or trying out acrobatics on the trampolines, I did have fun leaping and bouncing with the kids. And it really is designed for all ages: I saw toddlers to grandfathers bouncing and laughing.

Admission pays for one hour of jump time. At the outset, this may seem like it’s not enough, but an hour of continual jumping and playing may just wear out even the most active in your bunch. If you do want more, you can add an additional hour for $5/person. Be sure to be ready to jump right away, as the friendly “referees” on staff will promptly let you know when your hour is up.

Monday evenings are “Family Nights” and Tuesdays are two-for-one. Other specials occur during the week; check the website, trampolinezone.net, and at the location for information.

If you go:

The Trampoline Zone is located behind Pro Golf Discount. The building may not be immediately apparent; drive past a Trampoline Zone, Bellinghamsecond brick building before you find the Trampoline Zone.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
