Bellingham Beer Week Lecture Series at Chuckanut Brewery

There’s so much to know about the beer making process. So many things, in fact, that Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen has decided to run a Lecture Series for Bellingham Beer Week April 24-26 at 7 p.m. During the talks there will be raffles in support of the Max Higbee Center in Bellingham. The lecture series will occur on three different dates, discussing various topics, with a little of something for everyone from classical music, to baker to traveler.

  • Monday,  April 24: Canadian beer author Joe Wiebe will discuss his books.
  • Tuesday, April 25: representatives from Skagit Valley Malting Company will present information about their malting house.
  • Wednesday, April 26: members of the Whatcom Symphony will talk and play classical music.
If you’ve been curious about what’s been happening just across the border, you’ll want to catch the discussion on Monday, April 24. Beer writer, Joe Wiebe will discuss his books “Craft Beer Revolution: The Insiders Guide to BC” and “The BC Ale Trail Project”. Susan Welch and Adam Foy will both be presenting information about Skagit Valley Malting’s Culinary and Brewing malts made from grains grown in Skagit and Whatcom County on Tuesday, April 25. Chuckanut’s South Nut Brewery neighbor is a pioneer in the craft malting field. They are becoming more well-known across the US and the world as they continue to produce some of the best local malts available to brewers and bakers. On Wednesday, April 26 members of the Whatcom Symphony will present their monthly Symphony on Tap at the Kitchen. They will include talking about and playing classical music as a way of introducing it to those who have never considered it and to those who love it and want to know more about it. Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen located at 601 West Holly St, Bellingham was awarded the National Small Brewpub/Brewer of the Year 2009 and National Small Brewery/Brewer of the Year 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). The full service “Kitchen” serves from 11:00 a.m every day to guests of all ages with an eclectic fresh local menu.         We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
