Downtown Sounds Brings Music To Bellingham's Streets

Award winning concert series celebrates 6th anniversary in the Arts District.

The Downtown Bellingham Partnership presents Downtown Sounds Summer Concerts, sponsored by Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro, in downtown Bellingham. The award-winning concert series is celebrating its sixth year in the Arts District on Bay Street, between Holly Street and West Champion Street. These free, all-ages concerts offer music, dancing, food and live entertainment suitable for the whole family. The concert series runs every Wednesday starting July 14th through August 11th and occur from 5:00-9:00pm.

Downtown Sounds kicks off next week on July 14th with Spoonshine, a popular bluegrass band from Anacortes, WA. Spoonshine’s three-part harmonies, guitar, mandolin, bass, woodwinds and African percussion make them a band not to be missed. They will be joined by opener Pete Farmer, a local Bellingham musician known for his bluesy/Americana sound created through a creative combination of acoustic guitar and foot-stomping. In addition to great music and dancing, visitors to the first concert of the Downtown Sounds Concert Series can enjoy family friendly activities like face painting and chalk art. Food will be available on-site for purchase from Mount Bakery, Peace Love Pizza and Rocket Donuts. The American Museum of Radio and Electricity and Boundary Bay will provide refreshments for the over 21 crowd. This evening is sponsored by Mount Bakery.

The 2010 Downtown Sounds is supported by generous community sponsors including: Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro, American Museum of Radio and Electricity, Bayou on Bay, Temple Bar, Mount Bakery, Rocket Donuts, Best Western Heritage Inn, WTA, Kulshan Cycles, Whatcom Educational Credit Union, Sanitary Service Company, Grand View Sign and Awning Company, Amjay Screen Printing, Towner Press Inc., Cascadia Weekly, Cascade Radio Group, Chamber of Commerce, Appliance Depot, Kulshan Community Land Trust, Slum Doctor Programme, RE Sources, Haggen, Home Depot, the Groove Merchant Northwest and the City of Bellingham.
