Tourism Matters

Who do you wish would visit you in Washington? How about your mother, your best friend, or your nieces and nephews? Now is your chance to invite them to experience your neck of the woods, and simultaneously support our local economy, with the launch of Washington State Tourism’s “Share Your Washington” promotion.

Created in partnership with destinations around the state, Washingtonians can send their family and friends a special Share Your Washington invitation online at www.ShareYourWashington.com, which automatically enters the sender into a sweepstakes. There is no limit to the number of times residents can enter – the more friends and family they invite, the more chances they have to win a grand prize from Alaska Airlines!

Share Your Whatcom and WIN!

Before you head off to Share Your Washington, be sure to post a comment to this page (comment form at the bottom) and “Share Your Whatcom”.  Tell us who you would invite to Whatcom County and what you’d like to share with them, and be automatically entered to win a Whatcom County prize package!

  1. I honestly would love to invite my one, two or more of my facebook friends whom I have never met in person! They are friends of friends, and people I have met on different groups that we are a part of!

  2. I would like to invite my father-in-law. He has never been to whatcom and I would love to show him our wonderful home. I would show him Boulevard Park, Whatcom Falls, La Fiamma Pizza, Fairhaven, downtown Blelingham… and the list goes on. Whatcom is a wonderful place to live!

  3. I would invite my little sister! It’s been too long since we’ve gone out and girled around and Bellingham is the perfect place to do it. Then out to my home for quiet nights in the County!

  4. I would invite all 8 of my sisters from Minnesota. I would share what a great area this is from the sound to the mountains.

  5. I am inviting my sister-in-law, she is from a land-locked little town in a southern state, and has never been on the west coast before. I’ll take her to Chocolate Necessities, for a drive down Chuckanut Drive to Clayton Beach, up Mt. Baker to play in more snow than she has ever seen before, and back to Bellingham for a show at the Upfront Theater!

  6. I am sharing the Deming Log Show with my Mom who is flying in from Florida this June. Cannot wait to show her how wonderful it is out here!

  7. I invited my sister and brother-in-law from Charleston, SC. They love seafood and fine wine and we have some of the best on the coast!

  8. My mom and best friend both recently visited in Bellingham and of course much was centered around the food. We went for salmon chowder at Boundary Bay, the Major Grigio pizza at La Fiamma, happy hour at Nimbus, a pint at The North Fork Brewery and a bag full of veggies, cheeses, and locally made wares at the Bellingham Farmers Market. We are so lucky have such a great food scene here in Whatcom County and a lot of excellent eateries that support local farmers too!

  9. I have invited my aunt Gail she loves to hike just like me so I am going to take her to Chuckanut Drive & hike the interurban trail.

  10. We just moved here less than a month ago from the frozen tundra of Minnesota and I want to invite our entire family from Texas! Even though we live here now, it feels like we are on vacation!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it here!

  11. I would invite my extended family that live in the Seattle area, that include nieces, nephews and brother in law – so they could spend time with our “patriarch” in the family “Grandpa Bob”, my father in-law. Logistically speaking it is difficult to get everyone together all at once, because of various economic and transportation issues. Bob would really enjoy seeing everyone together – as he will be 86 this June.

  12. I would like to invite President Obama to accompany me on the Chuckanut Drive. We could stop at a half-dozen dining establishments, enjoy the view, take a hike, watch birds and relax. He deserves a break!

  13. I have two different parties of people with whom I would like to share Bellingham and Whatcom County: my niece, Candy, and her boyfriend, Pablo. They live in Tucson, AZ, and our area would be such a respite from the heat and the desert. Plus Pablo is a forester so he will love the mountains and trees.

The other group is comprised of my five girlfriends, one of whom just successfully battled cancer. They want to see where I live, and I would love to host them for a girls weekend. We would dine and shop in Fairhaven, and probably have chocolate cheesecake at the Chocolate Necessities store in downtown Bellingham.

  14. I’d love for my friends in California to come visit Bellingham. They’d dig the natural beauty, tasty food and all-around awesome people.

  15. I’ve been trying to get my sister and her daughter to visit the NW fair. Her daughter is delayed at 10 just begining to walk; and, it is often too hard to travel long distance. I know my niece would enjoy the fair; it is a perfect piece of a time long gone of displays, animals, food and entertainment. Keeping my fingers crossed.
