Bellingham Washington’s Outdoor Adventurer Shares Her Hometown

Sunset Staff / Sunset Magazine / January 20, 2020

Heather Anderson is a Pacific Crest Trail record holder, National Geographic’s 2019 Adventurer of the Year, and the author of Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home. When she’s not crushing miles, she’s likely spending time at one of her favorite spots in Bellingham, Washington.

One of Anderson’s top picks for a day on the trails is a ramble along Whatcom Creek in Whatcom Falls Park. For those who prefer something a little less sweaty, she suggests a cruise along the jaw-droppingly scenic Chuckanut Drive from Bellingham to Bow.
