Local nonprofit Shifting Gears will host Sippin’ on Cider: A Bellingham Cider Tasting Festival at Lost Giants Cider Co from 6 to 10 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. The event will feature ciders from various Pacific Northwest cideries, performances from local bands, and food from Bellingham-based food trucks. The event is 21+. Tickets cost $20 before September 7, and $25 the week of the event.
Entertainment showcases Whatcom-county based bands Wicked Timing and the Kaeli Earle Trio, and food vendors Sage Against the Machine and Kid Sister Food Truck. Though it is not required, the event suggests bringing out one’s innermost ‘Belling-hipster’.
“Our organization is deeply connected to the cider industry within Bellingham, so creating this event was our way of bringing cider lovers and local businesses together,” says Cider Coordinator, Kari Humphreys. “We are so thrilled that the cider community is coming together to share their craft and
benefit a great cause!”
Local cideries attending the event include Schilling Hard Cider, Honey Moon, 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Renaissance Orchards, Lost Giants Cider Co., Swift Cider, Bellingham Cider Co., Farmstrong Brewing’s Ragged & Right Cider Project and more. Each drink ticket comes with one 8oz taster glass and three 8oz drink tickets.
“We’re also pretty excited about the activities we’ll have going during the event. We’ve got field games, a photobooth, and even outdoor living rooms that we’re calling ‘Apple Lounges’.” says Board President, Jenny Schmidt. “With the fall season approaching, the first annual Sippin’ on Cider Festival will surely be an event to remember.”
