Knot Tying Clinic Day 1

Using the right knot for the job makes life easier! This short workshop will be designed for beginners who are looking to build a foundation with a useful variety of basic knots. We’ll work as a group and follow along step by step to practice these common knots and discuss when to use them.

We’ll finish the class with training in setting up a tarp for outdoor use. This clinic welcomes backpackers, gardeners, hikers, survival enthusiasts, and any others who want to practice and learn!

Please check out "Day 2" (optional) for a continuation of this workshop the following day to practice additional knots and strategies for rope management. (Register for each day separately).

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
