Day on the Bay

Join us, Saturday, September 28th from 10am-4pm for a Day on the Bay to learn about Bellingham’s rich maritime culture, fishing industry, and business community on Bellingham Bay.

This free*, self-guided event allows folks to stop at more than 12 locations along the Bay to meet fishers, tour boats, visit the touch tanks, learn to crab, see historical pictures, check out the Hannah Project and so much more!

Day on the Bay is a joint effort of SeaFeast, Working Waterfront Coalition, and Sustainable Connections’ Eat Local Month aiming to shine a light on the vibrant and diverse maritime heritage that shapes our community, fostering a deeper appreciation for the hardworking individuals and innovative enterprises that sustain Bellingham Bay. Come explore, engage, and celebrate with us!

*Additional paid events, including specialty business tours and boat rides, coming soon! https://sustainableconnections.org/events/day-on-the-bay/

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
