Whatcom Grooves Summer Music Series: Tumbao in Glenhaven

WCLS's South Whatcom Library and Friends of the South Whatcom Library invite you to join them at the Glenhaven Clubhouse for Tumbao. An Afro-Cuban band based in Seattle, Tumbao features three-time Latin Grammy-winning singer Carlos Cascante (of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra) as well as pianist/musical director extraordinaire Julio Jauregui from Mexico City. This band plays an uplifting mix of salsa dance classics as well as originals by pianist Jauregui. Peruvian conguero Edsson Otero, Palouse drummer Jeff Busch and Seattle bassist Dean Schmidt round out the sound. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes!

Whatcom Grooves is generously supported by the Whatcom County Library Foundation and the Friends of the South Whatcom Library with help from Jazz Center of Bellingham. Music begins at 5:30; festivities begin at 4:30 (prize drawings, food trucks, pop-up library). Parking is limited; carpooling recommended. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
