Doctober 2024 Opening Night | West Coast premiere of RED FEVER

This year's opening night of the 17th annual DOCTOBER features the West Coast premiere of the new documentary, RED FEVER, October 3rd at 7:00 PM. Tickets to Red Fever on 10/3 will also include admission to the opening night party at SPARK Museum next door from Pickford Film Center (1312 Bay St. Bellingham).

RED FEVER is a witty and entertaining feature documentary about the profound yet hidden Indigenous influence on Western culture and identity. The film follows Cree co-director Neil Diamond as he asks, “Why do they love us so much?” and sets out on a journey to find out why the world is so fascinated with the stereotypical imagery of Native people that is all over pop culture.

Each October the Pickford showcases Doctober—a month-long documentary film festival dedicated to one of Bellingham’s proven favorite genres. Doctober is the largest documentary festival in the Northwest, screening over 35 films in one month.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
