BIPOC Walks: Fabulous Fall

BIPOC Walks is a monthly, all-ages nature outing BY and FOR members of the BIPOC community. We have different themes each month, and this month we will be getting curious about various cultural traditions around the changing seasons, reflecting on the ways that autumn makes us feel as individuals, and notice all the small changes happening around us this time of year. We will discuss different culture’s beliefs about the equinox, and how it is often linked with harvest festivals and a time for giving thanks. We will then take a slow walk around a beautiful local lake to appreciate the changing colors, and collect some leaves to use in nature focused seasonal art.

BIPOC Walks are open to all ages, and families welcome and encouraged to attend! For community safety, exact meeting location is revealed upon registration.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
