Access for All Free First Friday honors Indigenous Peoples’ Day with programming that celebrates local Indigenous artists, storytellers, and musicians:
10:15 – 10:45 am: Nooksack Elder and storyteller Tammy Cooper Woodrich will share three stories of the animals and people who have always called this land their home.
11 am – 1 pm: Artist Michelle DeAsis (Tlingit) will lead all-ages paper-weaving activities.
1 – 4 pm: Nooksack tribal member Elizabeth Swanaset King George will lead guests through the process of weaving their very own cedar cuff bracelet.
5 – 7 pm: Lisa Telford, a Git’ans Git’anee Haida artist, will demonstrate Northwest Coast basket-weaving techniques using natural materials like red and yellow cedar.
6 – 7 pm: Swil Kanim (Lummi), Native storyteller and classically trained violinist, will perform.
Free First Friday will also include Baby & Toddler music classes, puppet-making class, and "Meet a Musician" with the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra.
