The Aly Fell Open Water swim is a USA Swimming and US Masters sanctioned event featuring an 800m, 2.5K, 5.0K and the only sanctioned 10K race in the area. This is the 6th year the event will take place and is rapidly growing in popularity attracting swimmers from all across the area – south from Oregon, north in to Canada and last year we had two swimmers from Arizona join us. This event is dedicated to a local 15 year old swimmer who tragically dies in a car accident in August 2009. She had competed in her first open water swim at Lake Padden just days prior. At age 15 and standing just 5’2″,she was the first female to cross the finish line, first in her age group, and third overall, earning her the nick name Fell Fierce.
