Event Details:

Biophysical chemist, author, and mountaineer Arlene Blum will give a talk entitled “Women in High Places: To Annapurna and Beyond,” at WWU at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25 in the Western Libraries Reading Room (Wilson 4th Floor Central). This event is free and open to the public and includes an opening reception with light refreshments.

Blum has led successful expeditions to some of the world’s most challenging mountains. She is the author of the mountaineering classics, “Annapurna: A Woman’s Place,” and “Breaking Trail: A Climbing Life,”and is also engaged in efforts to protect human health and the global environment. Blum will share images and stories from her climbs of several high peaks, and speak about her scientific research and policy work.

Sponsored by Western Libraries Heritage Resources, Huxley College of the Environment, the Associated Students Outdoor Center, and the Center for Canadian American Studies at WWU.
