Event Details:

Christine is originally from Paris and taught classical guitar in Montréal. She formed this all female group because she loved this music. In previous days of Gypsy jazz, women were not accepted at all. And Christine was one of the first to actively break the glass ceiling in Gyspy jazz. Her group is incredible. She has created the most dynamic approaches to Gypsy jazz and has found a way to include traditional Québécois flavors. The project she is bringing to the Northwest is “Djangobelles” which adds trumpet and trombone to her lineup of violin, two guitars and bass.

On Django Belles, the band is enriched with the swing of two exceptional brass players, a trumpeter and a trombonist with their bright horn sounds that’ll stand out opposite the 100% gypsy groove of the fours string musicians.

For the last 15 years, Christine Tassan et les Imposteures have been doing their thing in the gypsy jazz and revisited song scene in Quebec, Canada and internationally. The quartet has released six albums, winning a Opus in the 2017 Jazz Album of the Year category for Entre Félix et Django as well as being nominated for the 2018 Concert of the Year category for the tour of the same name.
