A chainless race is a mountain bike race where all riders remove the chain from their bikes before starting their run. Gravity and judicious use of brake to keep you rolling. Riders will start at the top of Chuckanut Mountain and do timed runs down Double Black Diamond and Double Down Trails. Total run is just under 1700′ of elevation and 2 and a half miles. Course is predominately downhill and fast with two or three spots that require skilled pumping or running with the bike to get through. Both trails are filled with berms, rock rolls and a few small bump jumps.
Riders will have the option of taking a shuttle or pedaling to the top and removing their chain there. A mechanics tent will be set up at the top of the mountain to help riders with removal, if needed.
Take off your chain, load up your bike. It’s time to race!
