Event Details:

Lose yourself in the wondrous wash of sound where “boundaries are blurred and cellos are in abundance” [The Strad].

Don’t miss this regional treasure filling MBT’s stage with a huge, orchestral ensemble that includes brass, percussion, and guest vocals by Patti King of Portland band the Shins. Formed twelve years ago with nine classically trained cellists, Portland Cello Project has a mission to bring cellos to new places, bring new music to cellos, and bring to audiences all of the sonic ecstasy that happens in the process. Expect this alternative-classical group to perform an evening of powerful arrangements from unexpected artists, culminating in Radiohead pieces that wander from truly epic to breathtakingly intimate.

“Before this recent Portland Cello Project concert, I’m not sure that I’d truly realized how important live performances can be in helping you appreciate music.”
– Time Magazine

“This indie orchestra gives classical music a jolt of energy.”
– Spin Magazine
