Event Details:

The Clan Heather Dancers host their annual Scottish Highland competition. The “Reel Competition” is fun, family entertainment offering the color and pageantry of Scotland in its wonderful dance form.

Boys and girls as young as four present the Highland Fling and sword dance in the primary class. Beginners, novices and intermediate dancers follow to complete morning events featuring traditional Highland and Scottish national dances. Many premier-level participants, including well-known champions, begin their events at 11:00 am and continue throughout the afternoon. Intricate footwork, beautiful tartan costumes and live bagpipe music are all part of presentation showcasing the athleticism and grace of Highland dance.

Events begin at 9:00 am and continue until 5:00 pm. Admission is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and seniors.

The Clan Heather Dancers school is the longest-established dance school in Whatcom County. School director Heather Richendrfer conducts workshops and judges Highland dancing competitions and championships around the world including the 2019 World Highland Dancing Championships in Scotland. She is also founder of the Bellingham Scottish Gathering.
