As the World Burns by Lee van der Voo tells the story of Juliana vs. The United States and the youth climate activists that are the plaintiffs in the case.
Van der Voo brings the reader across the United States to talk to the plaintiffs about their reasons for joining the case; describes in great detail the federal government’s myriad efforts to shut it down; and explains why in an era of hotter temperatures, extreme weather events, and increased social upheaval, the idea that the government is responsible for the health and safety of its youngest citizens is not just an intellectual exercise.
Learn more and meet Lee van der Voo at a virtual event hosted by Village Books. Books will be available to order. This event is part of the Nature of Writing Series run in partnership with the North Cascades Institute.
