Event Details:

Author Eowyn Ivey shares stories and answers questions about this year’s featured book, “To the Bright Edge of the World.” Whatcom READS is an annual literary happening that invites Whatcom County neighbors to read or listen to the same book and then come together to discuss and celebrate its themes and the joy of reading at lively, free public gatherings.

“To the Bright Edge of the World” is set in the first decades after the United States purchased the Alaska Territory. This atmospheric, transporting tale of adventure, love and survival features rich descriptions of the Alaskan wild and a fascinating glimpse at the burgeoning fields of naturalism and photography in the late 19th century.

Pick up a copy at any local library or Village Books (which donates 10% of the book’s sales to Whatcom READS). Author Eowyn Ivey is a Western Washington University graduate. She also wrote the Pulitzer Prize finalist The Snow Child. Learn more and see the full events calendar at whatcomreads.org. Presented by all the public and academic libraries in Whatcom County and Village Books with support from local businesses. Funding sponsors: Friends of the Bellingham Public Library and Whatcom County Library Foundation.
