Spirited Halloween Parties for Grown-Ups in Bellingham

By Teresa Schmidt / October 19, 2015

Halloween

Oh boy, oh boy, Halloween is on a Monday this year! That means an all-day celebration, with fun activities for the little ones early on, and then after dark, all hell—I mean All Hallows Eve—breaks loose for the grownups. You can be sure that bars in Bellingham, as well as points east (Glacier) and north (Ferndale) will be breaking out the scary soundtracks and spider webs, and welcoming witches, superheroes, movie characters and zombies to let loose and have a great time while pretending to be someone (or something) else.

No matter where in Whatcom County you find yourself, you’ll find a party close by. Here’s the skinny:

Halloween Events in Bellingham

Boundary Halloween BashBoundary Bay Brewery

Boundary Bay is hosting its annual Halloween Bash, with live music by Scary Monster and the Super Creeps (David Bowie tribute band and most appropriate Halloween party band). the fun starts at 9:00 p.m. and it’s only $5.00 to get in!
1107 Railroad Ave.
Bellingham, WA

Green Frog

A Baby Cakes Halloween, with music starting at 9:00. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of show. Shake your booty with classic R&B and funk.
1015 N. State St.
Bellingham, WA

honey moonHoney Moon

There’s going to be a Dead Musicians Halloween Party at Honey Moon! For the fourth year straight, famous dead people will come to life on the stage, while the audience gets to sip from their choice of Honey Moon’s delicious meads and growing line of ciders (beer and wine, as well). The fun starts at 8:30 p.m. and anyone—even you—can sign up to perform. Whether you feel the (teen?) spirit of Kurt Cobain coursing through your veins, or wish to pay homage to Poe, Dickinson or Shakespeare, choose five to 15 minutes of material, plus an appropriate costume, and sign up as soon as possible. Just email honeymoonbooking@gmail.com. Not sure whom you want to portray? Sign up anyway, and figure it out later!
1053 N. State St.
Bellingham, WA

Rumors Cabaret

You know Bellingham’s premier gay bar and dance venue will be a total blast on Halloween night! Rumors will feature a costume contest with $1,000 in prizes to the top (and over-the-top) entries. And of course a DJ will provide the perfect dance music to make it as crazy fun as fun can be. And it goes without saying, but everyone is welcome at Rumors!
1119 Railroad Ave.
Bellingham, WA

Chuckanut Brewery

Chuckanut’s famous, award-winning Euro style beers and a costume contest. What else could you possibly want on Halloween? How about a closeup view of some of the zombies participating in Thrillingham across the street in Marine Park? You never know how many will stumble in for a pre-dance Kolsch to loosen up their (probably visible and bloody) joints.
601 W Holly St.
Bellingham, WA 98225

bellwetherHotel Bellwether

This year’s HB Halloween Party features The Atlantics for blues and boogie in the Bellwether Ballroom. There will be a costume contest, of course, and a cash bar from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $10 or pay $15 at the door.

Buy tickets at the front desk, or call 360.392.3100 to RSVP in advance.

Halloween Event in Glacier

Chair 9 logoChair 9

Would you believe me if I said I once dressed up as Snooki’s cousin (velour, eyeliner, big hair) and was “arrested” by a Reno 911 cop on Chair 9’s dance floor one Halloween? I can’t guarantee the same special treatment for you, but I can guarantee a super fun time if you check out Chair 9’s fifth annual Halloween party. They even award CA$H prizes for best costume—$150 for first place and $75 for second. Music by Snug Harbor and no cover charge!
10459 Mount Baker Highway
Glacier, WA

Halloween Event in Ferndale

main stThe Main Street Bar and Grill

This year, the Blackout Halloween Bash gets started at 9:00 at the Main Street Bar and Grill. Featuring The Blackouts, so you can dance to your fave rock and roll covers—with no cover charge! Plus a costume contest, with prizes for the fan favorites.
