BAAY Presents: The Snow Queen

Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth presents The Snow Queen! Jump into this playful remix of the classic fairy tale. Featuring a dash of Hans Christian Anderson, a sprinkling of Fairy Tale Theatre (on Showtime in the 80’s), and original music by the amazing Steve Barnes, a former musical director at BAAY. The story follows Gerda on her quest through forests, mountains, and hills to rescue her friend Kai from the Snow Queen. Get ready for talking reindeer, flying sleighs, goblins in space, and the Northern Lights!

The Snow Queen runs for four weekends and features four different casts of students ages 9-12. December 1-17 and January 5-7 at the BAAY Theatre. Tickets and more info at baay.org.

About BAAY: Founded in 2006, Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching children’s lives through the exploration of the arts. We believe that the arts are a basic and essential component of all children’s education. We serve approximately 1400 children ages 5-17 annually in our EduArts and Theatre programs, and provide over $30,000 a year in annual tuition waivers to remove financial barriers to participation. Learn how you can support the sustainability of this work at baay.org/support.
We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
