Whatcom Events is pleased to announce the first Trails to Taps Relay in Belllingham on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Registration for the fun beer run is now open, and 75 of the 100 teams are already signed up. To secure a team this year, only one runner needs to start a team to be guaranteed a spot.
Teams of 5-10 runners comprise this 10-leg relay run which highlights two of Bellingham’s best assets – breweries and trail running. Each leg of the 30-mile course utilizes local trails, parks and streets and then ends at a different brewery where runners receive four 4 oz beer tickets to use in any way they like throughout the day. Teammates meet each other at the Depot Market Square for an After Party from noon-4:00 p.m. to celebrate with all the participating breweries and enjoy food from local trucks. Each runner receives a complimentary pint glass as part of registration. Raffles for local brewery swag will occur on the hour from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and a Costume Contest will take place at 3:00 p.m. This event and After Party are for participants 21+ only.
Participating breweries for 2018 are:
- Boundary Bay Brewery
- Stones Throw Brewery
- Kulshan Brewing
- Wander Brewing
- Chuckanut Brewery
- Menace Brewing
- Structures Brewing
- Aslan Brewery
- Gruff Brewing
- Lost Giants Cider Co.
Trails to Taps Relay is the brainchild of Jenny Schmidt, the Communications Director of Boundary Bay Brewery and has been in the works for two years. Beer Races, Relays and Chases have been huge hits up and down the entire West Coast the past couple of years and Whatcom Events is excited to host the first in Bellingham, a city at the top of beer-related lists such as the number of breweries per capita in the state and the nation.
The Title Sponsor of this event is Ketchup + Mustard Design, the Event Sponsor is the Tap Trail, the Finish Line Party Sponsor is Anytime Vans, Supporting Sponsor is Basecamp Bellingham, Media Sponsor is Outdoors NW and the Bib Sponsor is Fairhaven Runners.
Volunteer opportunities are still available for this event and anyone interested can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. All volunteers must be 21 years of age.
