[caption id="attachment_65648" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Picture includes Michael Toomes (Head of Operations), Joe Heldt (Brewer) and Rick Burns (Brewer)[/caption] On June 16th the Washington Beer Awards announced the 117 breweries who won awards in 74 categories out of the 181 breweries that entered. Out of the almost 1,300 beers in the competition, Chuckanut Brewery won a total of six awards. Chuckanut Marzen Lager and Vienna Lager each won Gold medals; Chuckanut Pilsner received a Silver medal; and Chuckanut Mexican Style Lager, Doppelbock and Dunkel Lager all received Bronze Medals. Last year, Chuckanut received an unprecedented eight medals as well as Large Brewery of the Year 2017 for many of the same beers. Chuckanut Brewery’s Marzen Lager is an amber beer with a complicated and tantalizing mix of malts finished with enough hops to help create a dry spicy finish. The Vienna Lager is a year-round Chuckanut beer that is amber colored, smooth and easy drinking with the typical Chuckanut dry finish. Chuckanut’s Pilsner is another year-round Chuckanut beer known for its golden color, snappy finish and extremely drinkable taste. This beer just won Gold at the World Beer Cup 2018. The Doppelbock is a bigger beer than the others that won awards with a 7.4%ABV and was aged over three months for a smooth rich finish. The Mexican Style Lager is an easy drinking, a sessionable blonde lager that is Chuckanut’s summer seasonal lager. Dunkel Lager is one of Chuckanut’s most awarded beers. Dark, juicy, malty with a smooth finish Dunkel is a great beer in any season. Some of the award-winning beers will be on tap at both Chuckanut locations and around the Sound. Chuckanut is now available in very selected accounts in Portland, Oregon as well. Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen located at 601 West Holly St, Bellingham since late 2008 has been awarded the National Small Brewpub/Brewer of the Year 2009 and National Small Brewery/Brewer of the Year 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) and Large Brewery of the Year at the WABA 2017. The full-service kitchen serves from 11:00 am to guests of all ages with an eclectic fresh local menu. Check out additional information about Chuckanut http://www.chuckanutbrewery.com/

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
