Grant program for City of Bellingham food and beverage businesses impacted by COVID-19

Applications are now being accepted for a competitive grant program specifically designed to support food and beverage businesses in Bellingham’s City Center and Fairhaven districts. Complete applications must be received no later than October 7, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

City Launches Grant Program For Food And Beverage Businesses Impacted By Covid 1

The City of Bellingham will issue up to $500,000 in grants with awards of up to $20,000 to businesses that can demonstrate significant business adaptations, local impacts, and contribution to vitality in those districts.

“Bellingham’s food and beverage scene is one of the many reasons residents and visitors enjoy spending time downtown and in Fairhaven and why many businesses choose to locate here,” said Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood. “Restaurants, bars, and eateries have experienced significant hardship under COVID-19 restrictions. We honor their commitment and support their creative efforts to adapt to these challenging circumstances.”

The purpose of the grant program is to support local businesses and economic recovery of food and beverage operators in two of the City’s core business districts. More information, including eligibility guidelines, criteria, and the application can be found on the City of Bellingham website at www.cob.org/business. Funding decisions are anticipated by mid-October and funding is expected to be disbursed as quickly as possible throughout October and November.

In addition to this food and beverage industry response effort, CARES Act funding has also been dedicated to support other small businesses, licensed childcare providers, the public emergency response, food and housing security, and services and facilities to those living unsheltered.
