San Juan Cruises Announces New Vendovi Island Cruises This Summer

San Juan Cruises in Bellingham, Wash. has announced a new series of tours to Vendovi Island Preserve.  Of the island’s 217 acres, only two have ever been developed – as such Vendovi’s natural beauty is largely intact. The islands six unspoiled beaches, rare prairie habitat, abundant forest and wildlife, and interesting history make Vendovi Island a special place that few visitors have had the opportunity to appreciate.

The San Juan Preservation Trust, which purchased and now protects this unique and special island, and San Juan Cruises, have given people the opportunity to experience the blooms of camas, paintbrush, fawn lilies and other wildflowers, explore forested hiking trails and beaches with views of the San Juan Archipelago. Participants on these tours will be able to take part in a one hour guided nature walk, and will also receive a delicious picnic lunch in an insulated “to-go” carrier that they may keep after the cruise.

Tours will be offered on Saturdays – May 19, June 2, June 16, June 30, July 14, July 28 and August 11, and will depart at 9:00 a.m., arriving back in Bellingham at 2:00 p.m. Cost is $79+tax for adults, with youth ages 6-17 $39.50+tax. Children under 6 are free.

San Juan Cruises offers this and other tours that highlight the best of what makes this corner of Washington State so special and unique – the rugged coastlines of the San Juan Islands and Chuckanut Bay, wildlife such as Orca Whales, Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals and Stellar Sea Lions, and Northwest cuisine, including Wild Alaskan Salmon and Dungeness Crab.

San Juan Cruises currently offers the following tours: Deluxe Whale Watching Adventure Cruise, Half-Day Whale Watching Cruise, Sunset Whale Watching Cruise, “unWINEd On The Bay” wine tasting cruises, “Bellingham Bay BREWers Cruises”, Bird Watching Cruises, La Conner/Deception Pass Cruises and Sucia Island and Vendovi Island Picnic Cruises.

The company currently operate 4 vessels: Victoria Star 2, Salish Express, Chinook and Salish Sea.
