Road Biking

Bike-friendly? You bet! From bike lanes to waterside trails, biking here is fun and easy. Plenty of fresh air, stellar views, and open roads await!

Bellingham

Bellingham in general has several streets with designated bike lanes. For low traffic biking, Bellingham offers a variety of neighborhood, waterfront, and park routes.

Squalicum Harbor is a great place for a short scenic ride. The city has published a Bellingham Bicycle Routes Map, which designates the best roads for biking and proximity to connecting trails. Another great resource for self-guided bike tours is Whatcom Smart Trips.

Whatcom County

County roads offer sweeping views of rural splendor, Mt. Baker, and the waterfront. A Whatcom County Bike Map is available from Whatcom Smart Trips.

The charming Dutch-themed town of Lynden and surrounds make for great road biking. The area features idyllic flat and scenic farmlands showcasing acres of berry fields and grand views of the Twin Sisters and Mt Baker. The Inn at Lynden, in the center of town, provides complimentary use of their Dutch inspired bikes for all of their overnight guests. They also provide a local map with several mapped out routes to choose from including the Margherita ride, ice cream ride, picnic ride or coffee ride.

Family Biking

Wide flat trails in local parks and along the waterfront are great routes for families with young children. If you're wanting to keep young ones off of streets, check out the many park trails.
