Sunday, June 21, 2020 is the day to honor Dad. As Whatcom County is in Phase 2 of Washington State’s re-opening plan, it is a bit more of a challenge to find activities to share. Here are some ideas. Please wear a mask in public and remember to social distance.
Father’s Day Car Show at Bellewood Farms
This annual tradition at Bellewood Farms in Lynden has been transformed into a classic car cruise. Approximately 25-30 classic cars, hot rods and pickups will participate in the Taking It to the Streets cruise through Lynden, Nooksack and Everson.
From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cars will go through the parking lots of Christian Health Care Center and Lynden Manor in Lynden at approximately 10:30 a.m. They then will head through Nooksack and Everson before reaching Silverado Memory Care in Bellingham at approximately 11:30 a.m. and Spring Creek Bonaventure at noon.
Meanwhile, Bellewood Farms & Distillery, at 6140 Guide Meridian, will open its café and offer bakery goodies, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches and fish and chips from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call (360) 318-7720 or visit www.bellewoodfarms.com.
Dine on the patio at Hotel Bellwether
The Lighthouse Grill at Hotel Bellwether is honoring fathers all weekend long with a special of garlic & herb roasted prime rib served with garlic sauteed string beans and rosemary, shallot mashed potatoes. This special will be offered in a 12oz. and “dad sized!” – a 14oz. cut. The ‘Dad’s Drink’ special of the weekend is the Vieux Carre – a delicious combination of rye whisky, cognac, sweet vermouth, two types of bitters, a dash of benedictine liqueur, all stirred and garnished with a cherry.
The Lighthouse Grill has large, open windows overlooking Bellingham Bay, allowing a welcoming breeze off of the water. The indoor dining area is newly laid out for social distancing, and the outdoor patio and waterfront terrace are also for dining.
Try the New Evolve Chocolate BBQ on the Village Green
Evolve Chocolate and Cafe in Fairhaven is rolling out a fully outdoor kitchen and menu on the Village Green side of Village Books, beginning this weekend, Thursday-Sunday, 12noon-6pm, June 18 to Sept.6.
The menu features grilled Taylor Shellfish oysters, smoked turkey legs, BBQ brisket sandwiches, BBQ pork ribs, BBQ chicken, fresh local fish, grilled corn on the cob, sides and fixings. YUM!!

Take a Hike
Luckily our local trails are open – and after all that food, a hike, walk or stroll may be just the ticket for Dad. Here’s a link to our full hiking page. Enjoy the soothing energy of nature to calm everyone’s nerves and let Dad know you love him.
Happy Father’s Day!
