Birch Bay

Birch Bay, located on a shallow, crescent-shaped bay, is a beach-side community offering a range of year-round recreation for families and anyone looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of big towns. While visiting you can enjoy golf courses, beach combing, horseback riding, both restaurants and a brewery with water views, and spend the summers at a water slide park, on the go-cart track, and tasting locally made treats at a candy shop. Learn even more about Birch Bay here.

For the bird watchers, Birch Bay and nearby Blaine are a “birders paradise.” Birch Bay State Park as well as Blaine’s Marine Park and Drayton Harbor are among the top birding spots on the Washington State Birding Trail’s Cascade Loop. This area boasts the largest heron rookery plus a huge number of water fowl and shorebirds in the spring, fall, and winter months. Along Birch Bay Drive there are a number of spots for catching glimpses of nesting eagles.

This luxurious seaside escape provides a quintessential Pacific Northwest experience. Semiahmoo Resort offers 196 newly updated guest rooms, many with spectacular water views and in-room fireplaces.

Guests also enjoy access to the resort's health club, indoor/outdoor pool, two tennis courts, racquetball, beach volleyball, wellness center and salon, beach bonfires, onsite kayaking, whale watching tours, on-site dining, and more.

Birch Bay State Park offers 147 standard sites in its forested camping area, 20 partial-hookup sites, two primitive sites, a trailer dump station, eight restrooms (one of which is ADA), and 18 showers (two of which are ADA). Maximum site length is 60 feet (limited availability).

Campsites are reservable for arrival dates from May 15 - Sept. 15.

Reservations can be made online or by calling (888) CAMPOUT or (888) 226-7688. For fee information, check out the camping rates page.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
