Bellingham St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal Announced

The Bellingham St. Patrick’s Day Parade announces the 2018 Grand Marshal – Moonwater, The Executive Director at Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center. This year the parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 17.

Moonwater has been chosen to lead the crowd down Cornwall Avenue at this year’s greenest event, The 9th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Bellingham, WA. She was named as the 2017 Professional Woman of the Year and has been the Executive Director at Whatcom Dispute and Resolution Center for 13 years. Her work is dedicated to improving communication throughout Whatcom County by helping people approach conflict in a creative and cordial way to form positive, lasting relationships. The work she does promotes understanding, tolerance and healing within the community by helping people resolve conflict creatively. Mediation is a different approach to working through conflict because it allows individuals to collaborate in developing their own solutions that work for them, developed by them

Moonwater was excited when she was informed that she would be this year’s Grand Parade Marshall. “I am beyond thrilled to be asked to serve in this fun and special way for the community,” she said. “[The parade] is a community building event, so I’m particularly excited to be able to participate in this way.”

The Bellingham St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee looks forward to celebrating The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center as a way to show our appreciation for the work they to strengthen ties within our community through their advocacy for open communication as a tool for constructive conversations that can create and restore relationships within our community.

Be sure to join along the parade route to wave and cheer with Moonwater, as she leads the parade through downtown. For parade route and participation, details visit www.stpatsbham.com.
