A Perfect Dreary Day at Taylor Shellfish Samish Oyster Bar and Shellfish Market

Just an hour and fifteen minutes north of Seattle is a seafood lover’s Utopia; a magical place where you can have an oceanfront picnic with all the freshest oysters, clams, Dungeness crab, mussels, and scallops you could ever want. Beautifully rustic in a perfect Pacific Northwest setting, I’m talking of course, about Taylor Shellfish’s Samish Oyster Bar and Shellfish Market.

There’s a Taylor Shellfish in the Melrose Market in Seattle that’s currently operating, but you won’t get the same sweeping views or that briny, sea air that just makes you feel like you should be eating an oyster (or a Dungeness crab). This is truly a quintessential experience for anyone who loves seafood.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
