Adventures Northwest Publishing marks its 15th Anniversary with a special summer edition to be published May 24, 2021.
The Bellingham-based quarterly, which has featured contributions from such internationally respected writers as Robert Michael Pyle, Tom Robbins, David Guterson and Lawrence Millman is dedicated to the joys of outdoor recreation and the transformative beauty of Cascadia.
The magazine was started by the husband-and-wife team of local recreationalists Paul Haskins and Alaine Borgias. Issue Number One was distributed in the summer of 2006 and featured Ski to Sea (of course!) on the cover. John D’Onofrio took over the reins in the summer of 2012 (after being a regular contributor of stories and photos since the very first issue) and considers it to be the best job of his life.
Although 2020 was a difficult year in the publishing business, Adventures Northwest benefited from the support of long-time community advertisers and the fact that the publication’s mission of “inspiring deep connections to the natural world” has become more relevant than ever during these challenging times.
The magazine is distributed for free to hundreds of locations around Washington and southern British Columbia and is also available through paid subscriptions for home delivery.
The upcoming special summer edition will also include the 2021 Bellingham/Whatcom County Arts and Culture Guide, published in partnership with Allied Arts of Whatcom County.
