BSO Announces New Executive Director

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announced today the selection of Gail Ridenour as Executive Director, after conducting a thorough search process and carefully considering applications from across the US.

Yaniv Attar, Music Director, said “I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Gail back to the symphony as the Executive Director! Our years of working together were in my opinion some of the most successful years of the orchestra. I look forward to working with her again, as we bring the orchestra to new heights.”

Gail brings a unique blend of outstanding leadership expertise, passion for music, and deep dedication to serving Bellingham and the Whatcom county community. “With Gail at the helm, we are confident that the BSO will continue to evolve, innovate, and captivate audiences, ensuring that our music remains a vibrant force in our community and lives,” said Corey Welch, President of the Board of Directors.

Gail Ridenour said “I am truly honored to return to a leadership role in this remarkable organization. I am excited to work hand-in-hand with our musicians, staff, and supporters to further our mission. Together, we will ensure that our orchestra continues to be a beacon of culture and a source of inspiration.”

The BSO will officially announce Gail as the Executive Director on stage at its November 5th concert, "Rise," featuring cellist Efe Baltacıgil performing Fazıl Say's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 "Pathetique," and DiLorenzo's Anthem of Hope.

This milestone season marks the ten year anniversary of Music Director Yaniv Attar’s debut with the orchestra. Details about the BSO’s upcoming season and ticketing information is available at www.bellinghamsymphony.org.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
