Fall Classes and Shows at BAAY

This fall, Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) is offering a variety of classes and shows for ages 4-17! All courses are currently scheduled to take place in person at the BAAY Theatre or in the State Street Studio — both located at 1059 N State St. Fall classes include choir, costuming, mixed media, improv, acting, and tap dance. BAAY is also excited to announce new daytime classes for preschool-aged students. These include Art and Play M/W, Art and Play T/Th, and Storybook Theatre and Movement.

In addition, local students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform fully staged productions. These include The Wizard of Oz for ages 5-8, and two original shows, Esme’s Adventures in Another World for ages 9-12 and Under the Bed for ages 13-17, which was written by BAAY Company Z students during the pandemic. The Haunted House at Boundary Bay Brewery also returns this October. Students who participate in the Dance Company program for ages 9-17 will get to perform as zombie dancers at this exciting Halloween event. Visit baay.org to register!

At BAAY, access to the arts is central to our mission. We offer tuition waivers for families in need of financial assistance, available by request at baay.org/theatre/scholarships. This fall, BAAY is also offering multiple course discounts. Families with multiple children or with kids who want to sign up for multiple courses can receive 10-15% off total tuition at checkout. Visit our website to learn more about these discounts and to review our COVID-19 protocols for in-person classes.

About BAAY: BAAY’s mission is to enrich children’s lives through the exploration of the arts. We believe that the arts are a basic and essential component of all children’s education. We serve approximately 1400 children ages 4-17 annually in our EduArts and Theatre programs, and provide over $30,000 a year in annual tuition waivers to remove financial barriers to participation.         We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
