Walking History Tours
A self-guided Downtown Bellingham Historic Walking Tour begins at the Whatcom Museum’s Old City Hall building and provides a two mile route circling through the downtown core, making stops at 45 locations.
Printed tour booklets are available at the Bellingham Visitor Centers. The tour is also available as a mobile version for smartphones, which is a nice way to see the historic photos and hear the narration as you are walking. Click here to open the mobile walking tour version.
Good Time Girls Sin and Gin Tour in Downtown Bellingham
Rail Trail Historic Walking Guides from Fairhaven to Downtown Bellingham is a great way to experience our waterfront history. The printed guide was developed by the Bellingham Railway Museum and follows a 3.5 mile trail, stopping at 35 signs to provide historical details. Rail Trail Walking Guides are also available at the Bellingham Visitor Center.
The Good Time Girls in Downtown Bellingham offer guided walking tours in both historic Downtown and Fairhaven. They offer private and group tours, bachelor/ette themed tours and their world famous “Sin and Gin“ and “Gore and Lore“ seasonal tours.

The Drayton Harbor Maritime Society in Blaine operates the 17-passenger Historic Plover as a foot ferry. Tour the local waters between Blaine Harbor and Semiahmoo Spit each summer from Memorial Day in May to Labor Day in September.

Whatcom County artists open their studios to the public during the 20th annual Whatcom Studio Artist Tour the first two weekends of October. Artwork is for sale and artists are available (some demonstrating) to meet with visitors. Tour includes clay, glass, handmade books, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and woodworking. This self-guided tour is free.
San Juan Cruises offers a scenic whale watch cruise which includes lunch and a stop in Friday Harbor, sunset crab dinner cruises on the bay with spectacular views of the Chuckanut coastline, wine and beer tasting cruises, and customized adventures.
