"It's a big statement meant to be a big statement," says Nasty Woman Wines founder Meg Murray of her McMinnville, Oregon, a brand that's main products have names like Pantsuit Pinot Noir and Boss Lady Bubbles. In November 2016, Murray reclaimed the infamous "nasty woman" insult from the 2016 presidential campaign intending to make a few hundred cases of wine to celebrate the first female president. Instead, she says she watched in horror as democratic nominee Hillary Clinton lost the election. ... Even without making it the main focus, producers support women's rights in many ways. Last year, Aslan Brewing Co. brewed I Stand IPA to benefit Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood, whose branch is just a block away from the brewpub. "We witnessed firsthand a lot of backlash, coming from the federal government especially, so we made a stand," says Jack Lamb, owner and CEO of the Bellingham brewery. "The world needs to hear facts about a resource for people who can't afford conventional health care, or don't feel comfortable going to normal facilities because of race or sexual orientation."
