Earth Day Community Work Party at Squalicum Creek

Celebrate Earth Day alongside more than 1 billion people worldwide by joining the City of Bellingham, the Salish Sea Institute at Western Washington University, and many other community partners for our annual Earth Day Community Work Party on Saturday, April 20th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. along Squalicum Creek.

Together, we will remove invasive species to improve fish and wildlife habitat and help water quality near the Squalicum Creek Re-route project. This important ecological restoration project was constructed in 2020 to benefit salmon and other native species.

Please meet at the Birchwood PeaceHealth Parking Lot located off of Birchwood Avenue.

Starts: April 20, 2024

Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
