Wild Whatcom: All-Ages Community Field Trip

Wild Whatcom is a local non profit that hosts nature connection programs for all ages, including our monthly all ages "Community Field Trips". Bring the whole family and meet us at Marine Park in Fairhaven to search the shore during a very strong low-tide, where we often find sea stars, nudibranchs, baby fish and even clams that shoot water. This is also a great spot to view the Great Blue Herons and their babies nesting in the trees along the shore.

We will bring buckets for kids to use as habitats for any critters they want to get a closer look at- but encourage you to bring water, sunscreen, hats/sunglasses and a sweater/windbreaker- the shore often feels 10-15 degrees cooler than in town and can be very windy!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
