Vartanyan Estate Winery in Bellingham, WA presents the following wine tasting events for February 2017.

February 11-12 Saturday-Sunday: Valentine’s Glintwein and Chocolate Ganache
Glintweins, made by Patty for Thanksgiving were so loved that we were asked to make them again. Patty will make two different glintweins for you to choose your cup from: Red Glintweins made with our red wine Carousel, or White Glintwein made with our Chardonnay.

Glintwein is a Russian traditional drink, which is made it’s made using honey, lemon and a lot of different spices including cinnamon, and drank warm. The only way to describe it is delicious and unforgettable. A cup of Glintwein is $ 6.00 per person. Free for the wine club members. No reservation required.

FREE 2-pack chocolate truffle (reg. price $ 5.75) with the purchase of bottle of Tempranillo 2014.

February 17-19, Friday-Sunday: Valentine’s Day: Wines and Chocolate
Bring your Valentine for the wine and chocolate tasting! This year we will pair Tempranillo wine 2014 with chocolate ganache which has a filling made with the same wine, Vartanyan Tempranillo 2014, by Chocolate necessities. 5 wines and 5 chocolates for tasting. February 14, Tuesday, 6.30 pm: Valentine’s Date and Paint
Bring your someone special and enjoy a romantic evening sipping wonderful wines and painting a masterpiece together ~ $25 per person. Please RSVP prepaid as this event will sell out — 360-325-2457. We’ll start with tasting some amazing wines, and then will give step by step fun instructions while you paint your masterpiece. As a couple, you will paint the picture “Paradise Sunset.” Each person will do their own part, which will be then combined into one canvas.

February 25-26, Saturday-Sunday: Bordeaux Blend Barrel Tasting
During Barrel tasting, you’ll be able to taste all six components that go into preparation of Bordeaux blend individually. You will taste two different Bordeaux blends, from the Right and Left Banks, and I’ll ask you to choose which blend you like more and what straight wines you’d want to see bottled in Spring of 2017 for the release on Mother’s Day weekend.

Red Bordeaux is made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carmenere. The major rive Gironde divides Bordeaux region into two primary sections – known worldwide simply as the Left Bank and the Right Bank. Typical Left Bank Bordeaux blends are based on Cabernet Sauvignon (70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot.), while typical Right Bank Blend is based on Merlot (70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon).

The price is $10.00 per person; tasting fee is waived with purchase of wine per person. Tasting for the wine club members and their quests is free.

April 1, Saturday, 12-6: Bottle yourself
After February barrel tasting, I will know the wines to be bottled for Spring Wine Release 2017. Come to bottle one or more of those wines yourself. I provide the wines, bottles, labels, corks, capsules and you bottle, label, cork and capsule the bottle of wine.

Vartanyan Estate Winery is open Fridays through Sundays 1-5 p.m., Saturdays until 6 p.m. For more information see www.vewinery.com.
