Lecture Series at Chuckanut Brewery for Bellingham Beer Week

Bellingham Beer Week is getting closer and it's time to make your schedule. Bellingham Beer Week will take place April 20-28, 2018. Chuckanut’s Lecture Series will happen at Chuckanut Brewery in Bellingham, April 23 through 25 at 7 p.m. in the back covered patio. During the talks, there will also be raffles in support of the Max Higbee Center. On April 23, well-known beer writer and podcaster John Holl will talk about where craft beer is now and where it is going, the subject of his upcoming book. Holl is the author of "The Craft Beer Cookbook," past editor for "All About Beer" Magazine and now senior editor and writer for Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine. He also produces a great podcast about craft beer for the magazine. John spoke at Chuckanut as part of one of their first lecture series during Bellingham Beer Week and is known for his frank and educational discussion about beer. He will be talking about the state of craft beer in America: past, present and future at this year’s lecture. On April 24, another well-known beer writer and podcaster Jeff Alworth will talk about his book “Secrets of the Brew Masters.” Alworth has been writing about beer and brewing for twenty years. He is the author of "The Beer Bible," "Cider Made Simple," and "The Beer Tasting Toolkit." As a columnist for "All About Beer," he has written for a number of magazines and newspapers, and blogs about beer at his popular site, Beervana. Village Books will be on hand during both of the authors’ talks. They will have a selection of beer books available for purchase and if you purchase one of the author’s books they will sign them for you. And for the final talk on April 25, members of the Whatcom Symphony will talk and play classical music for the first of the season “Classical on Tap”. This series will continue to take place throughout the summer on the last Wednesday of each month. They will include talking about and playing classical music as a way of introducing it to those who have never considered it and to those that love it and want to know more about it. The Executive Director, Gail Ridenour will talk about the pieces of music, its history and the musicians that are performing the pieces before each piece. She always leaves plenty of time for questions about the classical music being performed and the Whatcom Symphony. There’s a little of something for everyone at the Chuckanut Brewery Lecture Series. Whether you’re a classical music lover, beer lover and or beer traveler you’ll want to make it over to Chuckanut’s Kitchen during Bellingham Beer Week.. Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen located at 601 West Holly St, Bellingham was awarded the National Small Brewpub/Brewer of the Year 2009 and National Small Brewery/Brewer of the Year 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).         We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
