Mount Baker Theatre Presents Seattle International Comedy Competition's Big Night

Logo for Seattle International Comedy Competition Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham announces the semifinals of the Seattle International Comedy Competition on the Main Stage, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 8:00 p.m.  This event is a pivotal night in America’s largest touring stand-up comedy festival, featuring the top ten contestants each showcasing ten minutes of material to try to win one of only 5 places in the finals.  The final 5 will be announced at this show with live judging and audience participation. Comedians are competing for over $15,000 in cash prizes and exposure to talent executives. Currently celebrating its 39th year, the Seattle International Comedy Competition narrows entries from the US, Canada, UK, and Japan down to 32 contestants who perform across 22 shows in 18 different venues. The competition is known as a stepping stone for professional stand-up comedians to achieve greater levels of success. Preacher Lawson won in 2016 before going on to make the finals in NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Perhaps the most famous winner was the late Mitch Hedberg.  Previous winner Auggie Smith will emcee Bellingham’s event. Part of the mission of Mount Baker Theatre is to bring world-class entertainment to Bellingham as the local hub for live performing arts.
