Tour de Whatcom Registration Now Open

The Tour de Whatcom charity bike ride in Bellingham, WA is now open for registration. The ride will be on Saturday, July 20, 2019, and leaves from Boundary Bay Brewery in Downtown Bellingham. The Tour de Whatcom has four different routes of varying lengths from 22 miles to 100 (Century Ride) miles and offers something for every level of cyclists and every member of the family.  These rides are awesome!  You get to see everything: Mt Baker, Lake Whatcom, valleys, rivers, lush farmland, beaches and Puget Sound all in one fairly level ride.  Beautiful rides for a great cause!

Incite! Cycles will be the 2019 beneficiary of the ride. Incite! Cycles is a local 501(c)3 that umbrellas bicycle events such as Cascade Cross (a fall/winter Cyclocross series) and Bellingham Grind Corps (a spring/summer gravel grinding series). They also support partners such as Queens of Dirt and Bellingham Bike Polo. Incite! has been an organization since May 2017 that builds on a community of cycling enthusiasts that have been sponsoring events for over 10 years. With the move to a non-profit structure, they aim to support organizers of emerging events. This coming year they will be launching a quarterly application process for grants and microloans, as well as providing technical workshops on fundraising, permitting, insurance, and event planning.

This will be the 14th year that the Tour de Whatcom has welcomed riders from all over Washington State, the U.S. and Canada.  This ride has been given great reviews and is a perfect event for everyone; from beginner riders to avid cyclists. No matter what the participant’s skill level, the ride ensures beautiful sights and lots of fun for everyone at each of our five rest stops. Each themed rest stop will be equipped with snacks, water, and fruit. All rest stops are run by volunteers with proceeds benefiting local organizations and charities. Rest stop sponsorship opportunities are also available for interested local companies.

Any individual may register for either the 22, 44, 62 or 100-mile rides.  Current prices vary from $35-55 per person. Registration this year includes a free beverage ticket at the Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden, a raffle ticket for local prizes and a free digital download of rider photos. (All ages are welcome in the beer garden and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.) We offer reduced prices for tandem riders and for families (living in the same household) of three Рsix riders. Riders must be at least 10 years old for safety reasons.  Early Bird Registration goes until May 1st. (After May 1st and after July 1st, all rates will increase by $10 and $20 respectively.)

Details on the ride and registration can be found at tourdewhatcom.com

The Tour de Whatcom is a program of Whatcom Events, a 501(c)4 community non-profit organization.
