Former Western Washington University football player and current Tennessee Titan Matt Overton is the latest guest on the Viking Voices Podcast.
The NFL veteran, who played football for the Bellingham Vikings from 2005-06, will be playing in his 110th career NFL game and seventh playoff game this weekend as the Titans host the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC Wildcard game on Sunday in Nashville (10:05 am PT).
Overton is a native of Tracy, California, and spent two seasons playing for the Vikings in Bellingham. He transferred to WWU from Diablo Valley Junior College.
In the 40-minute podcast, which is also available in video form with closed captioning on YouTube, Overton covers several topics, including highlights of his time on the Western campus, his journey to the NFL, the interesting 2020 season in the NFL with COVID protocols and even discusses his support for WWU football after the program was discontinued following the 2008 season.
In nine NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2012-16), Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-18) and Tennessee Titans (2020), Overton has appeared in 109 games. This will be his fourth trip to the playoffs, and first since the 2014 season with the Colts. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2013 while serving as the long snapper for future Hall of Famer Adam Vinatieri.
