Action-filled Demolition Derby set Sept. 23 at NW Washington Fair and Event Center

Drivers will be smashing and crashing – and some will be cashing – Saturday, Sept. 23 during the Fall Demo Derby at the Northwest Washington Fair and Event Center in Lynden. “The Fall Demo Derby is ideal for fans who can’t get enough of this great action and for those who weren’t able to attend either of the shows during last month’s fair,” said Jim Baron, general manager of the Northwest Washington Fair & Event Center. “It’s also affordable for families because children 10 and younger are admitted free!” Demo derbies are filled with clanging metal, hissing hoses and enthusiastic fans cheering for their favorites to survive as the last car running and win the top prize. Before and during heats, fans may visit concession stands and a beer garden. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets in advance for $12 apiece through the fair’s website, www.nwwafair.com, at the fair’s Lynden office, 1775 Front St., and by phone at (360) 354-7777. Tickets also will be available Sept. 23 for $15 apiece.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
