2020 Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition now accepting entries

Amateur and professional photographers of all ages are invited to join in the 15th annual Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition.

The City of Bellingham and Whatcom Museum sponsor this photography competition to highlight what residents love most about living in their community. Photos must have been taken after Jan. 1, 2019 and capture the “essence" of living, working or playing in Bellingham. Entries can be submitted for free and are due by May 1st.

Awards will be given for Best of Show, Best of Class, Best of Category and for Honorable Mentions. Winning entries will be featured in the First Friday Art Walk on June 5th. All entries will be added to the Whatcom Museum's photo archives and may appear on BTV, the City website and in other City publications

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
