2026 Jr Ski to Sea Registration is OPEN

Whatcom Events is pleased to announce that registration for the Jr Ski to Sea Race is open as of February 1. We have 11 teams registered as of Wednesday, February 11th, a jump from 5 teams last year at this time.

Team price is $140 and increases to $160 on March 16th. Registration is open on our website

The race is open to 3rd - 12th graders with divisions for Elementary, Middle School, and High School Students. The four-person relay starts with skiing or snowboarding at Mt Baker Ski area with a virtual handoff to the runner, mountain biker and kayaker at Lake Padden Park.

2026 Updates

T-shirts and Merchandise

This year registration will include event t-shirts for all participants at no extra cost! T-shirts will also be available for sale along with other event merchandise.

Course Updates and Bellingham Traverse

We will be releasing updated routes for the High School mountain bike and running courses in late February. The courses will remain in the Lake Padden Park trail system, however the distance will increase and the difficulty will vary to reflect the skills of our older participants.

Starting this year, the first place high school teams in the male, female, and mixed divisions will qualify for complimentary entry into the Bellingham Traverse race taking place on Saturday, August 29th.

We are looking forward to a successful event in 2026. Please contact me directly if you’d like to discuss anything in greater detail.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
