A Little More Magic Has Found a Home in Fairhaven: Trevor’s Magic Rocks LLC Announces Grand Opening in Partnership with Starlight Goddess Studio LLC
For Trevor Duncan, a fifth-generation Bellingham resident, many rocks are not just rocks. They are pieces of ancient history, hidden works of art, and sometimes the beginning of something completely unexpected and healing. Now, after years of building Trevor’s Magic Rocks (formerly Trekntreasures), one stone at a time, Duncan is opening the doors to a place of his own.
Trevor’s Magic Rocks LLC will celebrate the grand opening of its new home at 1302 12th Street in the heart of Bellingham’s historic Fairhaven district on August 29 and 30, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The new location marks an important milestone for two small local businesses that have grown from a passion for lapidary and silversmithing into a full-fledged creative endeavor featuring handmade jewelry, stone carvings, polished stones, custom work, and lapidary education.
“This has been a long time coming,” says Duncan. “There’s something special about finally having a place where we can open the doors and say, this is ours. This is where we get to make things, teach people, share rocks, and build something with the community.”
From Rough Stone to Something Magical
At the core of Trevor’s Magic Rocks is the art of lapidary, the process of cutting, shaping, and polishing natural stone to reveal what is hiding inside.
That transformation is part of what Duncan hopes visitors will experience at the new shop.
During the grand opening weekend, guests will be able to watch live lapidary demonstrations, explore handmade jewelry and stone carvings, and see firsthand what goes into transforming rough material into finished art.
“That's the part I really want people to see,” Duncan says. “You can hold a rough rock in your hand and have no idea what's inside it. Then you cut it open, and suddenly you’ve revealed what was hiding there all along. It’s a true collaboration with mother nature that can’t be duplicated.”
A New Chapter in Fairhaven
The move to the Fairhaven district represents more than simply a new address for Trevor’s Magic Rocks.
It gives Duncan and Starke room to create the kind of unique, welcoming space they have envisioned—a place where experienced rockhounds can pick up supplies and discover something unusual, where jewelry lovers can find one-of-a-kind pieces, and where someone who has never touched a cabbing machine can become curious about lapidary.
The shop will offer lapidary, custom jewelry and gemstones, rough materials, specimens and carvings, as well as classes. The pair plans to continue developing educational and family-friendly, community-oriented programming for everyone.
“We want people to feel welcome whether they are asking about metaphysical properties, or they're walking in because they saw something shiny in the window,” Duncan says. “That’s the true magic of minerals; there's always something new to learn.”
Come Celebrate
The public is invited to join Trevor’s Magic Rocks and Starlight Goddess Studio for their grand opening celebration on August 29 and 30.
The weekend will include:
- Live lapidary demonstrations
- A goodie bag for the first 50 guests
- A complimentary gift for the first 75 customers
- Special grand opening offers
- One-of-a-kind handmade jewelry and stone creations
- Family-friendly activities
- An opportunity to explore the new Fairhaven studio and meet the lapidary wizard himself
Duncan says the celebration is ultimately about gratitude as much as it is about opening a new shop.
“Bellingham has given us a community to grow in,” he says. “This grand opening isn't just about saying, ‘Hey, we have a new store.’ It's about saying thank you. We want people to come in, see what we've been working on, talk rocks with us, and celebrate this next chapter together.”
And, fittingly, Duncan has a little extra magic planned for the occasion.
After all, the philosophy behind his business has always been simple:
Trevor's rocks are magic, and his magic rocks.
